With all the advancements in technology, people are becoming more and more dependent on that technology. While computers used to be unheard of, now a few hours away from a computer might be too long. Because of this, people are searching for ways to stay connected, even while on the go. One way to handle this is to tether PC to a cellphone and allow the PC to use the cellphone’s Internet access.

There are three different ways that a cellphone can be tethered to a PC. Some cellphones are able to function as a WiFi hotspot. This means that the cellphone itself will function much like a wireless modem or router. The WiFi enabled laptop is able to discover the cellphone as a wireless network connect.

If the PC has bluetooth capabilities, the cellphone may also be able to use bluetooth tethering. This is still done wirelessly, but through bluetooth hardware. If the laptop does not have bluetooth capabilities, a bluetooth adapater can be purchased, inexpensively.

Finally, the cellphone may be connected to the PC with a USB cable. This is known as USB tethering. The drawback for this method is that the cellphone and PC must stay connected at all times.

A cell phone can be connected to Wi-Fi easily, but you have to know where to look. It is usually in the settings where you will find the setup for your Wi-Fi.

You can download apps that will allow you to connect if you are unsure. This may be easier for some than others because some people do not like to mess with their settings.

People that aren’t afraid to work with their settings can go into the control panel. They can get into their systems and setup their wireless connection to on or off. When they set it they have to enter information about the password and this allows them to access the network. If there is no pasword the user can connect automatically.

People that have wireless network in their home can connect to their home network and avoid charges from their wireless carrier. Users can decide if they want a static address or dynamic IP address.

The Wi-Fi connection is great because many people are able to use it in restaurants or shopping centers. The ability to connect to another network is useful during times when you cannot get a reception. It’s a lifesaver for cellphone users.

With the increasing number of states and cities requiring the use of hands free cell phone devices while driving many people are turning to wireless bluetooth headsets. Bluetooth technology allows people to conveniently connect to devices, such as their cell phones, hands free using their voice to use the device. Most bluetooth headsets offer the ability to make calls, accept or reject incoming calls, and perform functions such as last number redial. More advanced bluetooth headsets offer an increased range of features including increased voice control, wind-noise reduction, increased usage range, resistance to radio frequency interference, and improved design of the headset.

Now comes the important question, how does one actually use a wireless bluetooth headset? It’s pretty easy. To use a bluetooth headset on a cell phone a person will need to find the bluetooth settings on their phone. Next, they will tell the phone to scan for bluetooth devices. At this point, they should turn the bluetooth headset on and set it to “discoverable.” The headset will show up on the phone’s list of devices available. Selecting the headset from the list will pair the phone and headset together and calls will automatically go to the bluetooth headset.

If your parents need supervision when it comes to technology, from looking into wireless internet providers to hooking up their satellite TV, you’re going to have to be patient when they get their first smartphone. Here are a few ways to lessen the learning curve.

1. Give them a tutorial: Sit down with your mom or dad when they first get their phone and explain as much as you can. Remember to start small and don’t get frustrated when your parents don’t understand – this stuff is foreign to them. < br />
2. Download apps they’ll love: If you get your dad the Sportacular app and you put the AllRecipes app on your mom’s phone they’re going to want to use it more. Pick apps that are relevant to what they enjoy and watch them figure it out on their own.

3. Play along: Once they’re all hooked up you should make an effort to communicate with your parents via their phone. Send them text messages and photo-messages and even emails then watch as they communicate back and give them tips on what to do better next time.

Cleaning out your computer regularly is important to keep it running smoothly. While cleaning some electronics is rather straight forward, it can be difficult to determine how to clean a computer. In order to get the deepest clean, it is necessary to clear out dust on the inside and outside.

The easiest way to remove dust from a computer is by using an air compressor. These are often sold as a spray can type tool at stores. All you need to do is open the cap and spray into the exposed areas of the computer. You can find a quick rundown here A lot of people choose to remove the casing of their computer with a screwdriver. While this is not necessary on a regular basis, it is a good idea to do this from time to time. Spraying the inside and outside with the air compressor will remove dust and clean the computer significantly.

Along with removing dust, it is helpful to use electronic-safe wet wipes. This will help remove any marks or stubborn dust. After ensuring the wipes are safe for a computer, you will be able to wipe them all over the computer. Combining this with an air compressor will get the computer completely clean.

In the past few years, the mobile technology market has unleashed a constant outpouring of new products touting new features claiming to revolutionize how we live. Two huge product families today are the Notebook and the Tablet PC. Notebooks have been around longer and they cater to students, business men, and really anyone who wants to create content, view content, or play games while on the go. Tablets have superior mobility but lack the physical keyboard and the processing power of Notebooks. Because tablets do not have a physical keyboards or extra space for track pads and USB connectivity, they are not comparable to Notebooks in the realm of content creation. They do make up for this with multi-touch displays, which are perfect for scrolling through text, playing simple games, and writing the occasional email with the virtual touch keyboard. Such content creation is still a secondary function and not nearly as efficient or easy as it would be on a physical keyboard. Tablets also tend to be more limited in terms of customization. They usually ship with limited access to applications outside of the pre-installed marketplace or store. Even so, they are very approachable and great for video chatting!

When you’re shopping around for a new computer, it’s pretty easy to get tripped up by all of the models that are out there. Particularly when you’re dealing with laptops and notebooks, there are quite a few differences that you’ll have to be aware of.

Simply put, laptops are more powerful computers than notebooks. Typically speaking, they’re going to have larger screens, better video cards, more RAM, bigger hard drives, and full-on support for CD and DVD burning. Laptops can be souped up for gaming, video editing, photo editing, 3D modeling, and the like”just about anything that you could ever want to do. For all intents and purposes, you can think of a laptop as a portable desktop.

Notebooks aren’t nearly as powerful as laptops, but they’re much easier to carry around. Typically speaking, they have smaller screens, a thinner design, and a much longer battery life. While you’re missing out on the CD/DVD-ROM drive, you’ll be getting enough speed and storage capacity for simple web browsing, word processing, and the like.

Essentially, it comes down to your lifestyle. If you know that you’re going to be traveling a lot, then you may want to consider a notebook. If you need a portable computer with a bit more power and functionality, then you’ll want to buy a laptop.
